AUX-06 'C' School-AUX ATON & Chart Updating - Private Aids
(USCG Auxiliary Aids to Navigation Staff Training)

 

About the Course

This school is designed to provide training in all five Auxiliary Aids to Navigation Programs - ATON - Federal Aids, PATON - Private Aids, BAP - the Bridge Administration Program, CU - the NOAA Adopt-A-Chart Program and SCF - Small Craft Facility Updating.  This year, the new Web-based Private Aids to Navigation System that is being introduced into the First District, NR will be presented.  New PowerPoint training aids for most AN programs will also be introduced.

 

Who May Attend
 
Attendees must be recently assigned as Flotilla Staff Officer - Aids to Navigation/Chart Updating (ATON/CU)  or Division Staff Officer - ATON/CU or District Staff Officer - ATON/CU. This training is not refresher training. Alternative training is available through District ATON program managers. COMDT (G-OCX) must approve all waivers. Only one class convening is scheduled per year. Applicants MUST have an internet e-mail account capable of receiving attachments to benefit most from this training, therefore, the e-mail address must be included in Block #22 of the Short-Term Resident Training Request prior to approval. No civilian contractors are authorized to attend.

Coast Guard Dining Facilities Yorktown

The Coast Guard Dining Facility (CGDF) is open to international enlisted, officer and civilian students. Enlisted members do not pay for meals. Officers and civilians are required to pay for all meals. Enlisted members will be given a meal card on the first day after arrival by the IMSO. Prior to receiving your meal card, you may show your travel order (ITO) to the CGDF cashier and sign in on the appropriate sheet. The cashier will assist you with sign-in and dining facility procedures.

International students who are required to pay for meals in accordance with their ITO and will sign in and pay at the current SEPRAT rate as follows: breakfast $l.80, lunch and dinner $3.20 each.

CG Dining Facility operating hours are: Monday through Friday, breakfast 0630-0730; lunch 1100-1230; dinner 1630-1800. Weekends and U.S. holidays, breakfast 0700-0900; lunch 1100-1200; and dinner 1630-1800.

The Subway Sandwich Shop is located in the TCYorktown exchange complex offering such foods as sandwiches and other short order items. The hours of operation are: Monday through Friday 0630-2030 and 0900-2030 Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

The Port of York (Senior Enlisted/Officers Mess) hours of operation are: Monday through Friday 0700-0800 for buffet style breakfast at a cost of $3.00 dollars. 1115-1245 for a buffet style lunch at a cost of $5.00; and 1730-2000 for dinner ordered from the menu. On Sunday only, brunch is served from 1000-1400 at a cost of $10.00. On Saturday and U.S. holidays, the Port of York is closed and meals can be taken at the CGDF or Subway Sandwich Shop.  (NB: These prices may not be up to date.)

Local restaurants. There are a number of restaurants in the local community. It is customary in the U.S. to leave 15% tip on your total meal amount for the table server who serves your table.

Important Travel Message

Travel arrangements should be made through a government contracted Travel agency. 

Failure to use a government contracted travel agency will result in the traveler assuming all liability for costs due to changes and cancellation in orders. 

Your DIRAUX can provide information on the government contracted travel agency for your region. 

A recommended government contracted national travel agency is SATO (800 753-7286).  If you use SATO, you will need to provide SATO with the Travel Orders Number (TONO) on this document to book travel.
